達特茅斯學院工程科學專業(yè)集中于增強學生解決問題的能力,比起單純的工程專業(yè),更會授予實用技能幫扶,當然入讀前需要滿足一些前置課程,在畢業(yè)之前也需要完成一些項目實踐,下面就隨tops留學老師一起認識下吧!

  一、專業(yè)介紹

  達特茅斯大學工程科學專業(yè)的候選人學習綜合許多領(lǐng)域的概念,也有機會專攻選定的領(lǐng)域。他們可以加入多學科研究團隊,并與教師和研究生合作。計劃攻讀BE學位并對特定工程領(lǐng)域感興趣的AB候選人可以在設(shè)計個人程序時使用各種示例程序作為模型。學生也可以選擇輔修工程科學來補充其他學科的專業(yè)。

  同時,所有工程專業(yè)的學生在獲得工程學士學位之前首先獲得文學學士學位(AB)。許多人在四年內(nèi)獲得AB和BE學位,而其他人則選擇增加五年的學習。

  對工程感興趣的達特茅斯學生有機會創(chuàng)建一個既具有工程深度又具有工程廣度的學習項目,時間靈活,可以從事本科研究、出國留學或探索工程以外的學術(shù)和課外興趣。

  二、入學前提

  對微積分、物理、化學和計算機科學有基本的了解。對這個專業(yè)感興趣的一年級學生應(yīng)該參加數(shù)學分班考試。

  Mathematics:

  MATH 3: Calculus

  MATH 8: Calculus of Functions of One and Several Variables & Supplies

  MATH 11: Accelerated Multivariable Calculus or MATH 13 Calculus of Vector-Valued Functions

  Physics:

  PHYS 13: Introductory Physics I

  PHYS 14: Introductory Physics II

  Chemistry**:

  Students will be placed in 1 of the following courses:

  CHEM 5: General Chemistry

  CHEM 11: General Chemistry

  Computer Science:

  Choose 1 option:

  Option 1 (1 course):

  ENGS 20: Introduction to Scientific Computing (May not be taken under the non-recording option.)

  Option 2 (2 courses):

  COSC 1: Introduction to Programming and Computation

  COSC 10: Problem Solving via Object-Oriented Programming

  Choose 2 courses, each from a different discipline:

  ENGS 31: Digital Electronics

  ENGS 32: Electronics: Introduction to Linear and Digital Circuits

  Mechanical

  ENGS 33: Solid Mechanics

  ENGS 34: Fluid Mechanics

  Chemical/Biochemical

  ENGS 30: Biological Physics

  ENGS 35: Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering

  ENGS 36: Chemical Engineering

  Environmental

  ENGS 37: Introduction to Environmental Engineering

  Electives(2 courses):

  Choose 2 courses, either both from the engineering sciences or 1 from each option:

  Engineering Sciences

  Any ENGS courses numbered 20 and above, excluding ENGS 80 and 87

  Science/Mathematics

  ASTR 15 and above

  BIOL 12 and above (excluding BIOL 52)

  CHEM 6, 11 and above (excluding CHEM 63)

  EARS 31, 33, 35, 37, 40-52, 59, 62, 64, 66 to 75, 77, 79 and above

  ENVS 30 and 79

  MATH 17-29, 31, 32, 35, 38, 39, 40, 42, 43, 50 and above

  PHYS 19 or 40 and above

  May count toward both AB and BE degrees.

  Prior to enrollment in ENGS 89, at least 6 engineering sciences courses must be completed: ENGS 21 plus 5 additional courses numbered 22 to 76 (excluding 75), and 91 and above.
